Hug a Penguin..it is Penguin Awareness Day

Hug a penguin today!

According to holidayinsights.com:

Penguin Awareness Day is great opportunity to learn about and appreciate one of the few natives of Antarctica. Use this day to spend a little time respecting and learning about them....even though they have been type cast as evil by animators everywhere. You can also watch a documentary of these cute and popular, grounded birds (March of the Penguins)....or something funny like the films Madagascar and Happy Feet. Or learn Linux - their symbol is a penguin!

The day is also a time to wear black and white---penguin colors. However, wearing a tuxedo in their honor is optional. It is also popular today to tell a penguin joke or two.

I think this could be another Hallmark conspiracy...maybe they simply created this holiday (like many others) so they could just sell more cards. I'll dash one off this afternoon and post it to McMurdo Station.

Retro active update

Dear blog followers,
I have posted a bunch of "new" old posts. Maybe 15 or so. They are newly posted but about things that happened in 2006. Retro-active updates...things I meant to publish but never got around to doing until today.

If you have time, go back and you will see all kinds of new stuff in the previous months. If only rewriting history was this easy!

Fortune Cookie wisdom is easy to swallow...

Today was Chinese food for lunch. My fortune cookie spoke the following words of wisdom...

"A surprise announcement will set you free"

I hope I get some good news soon. Mike told me that knowing my luck the announcement would likely include the words "fired" or pregnant"...haha! Not sure how "pregnant" frees me unless I somehow get paternity leave
